About The Position

Ardurra is seeking a Public Works Engineering Intern to join our team in our New Orleans, LA office for the summer.  At Ardurra, we design more than projects—we design futures. As a Public Works Intern, you will support engineering assignments related to the planning, design, and construction of public works across the Central region.   This internship is designed to give you exposure to real-world engineering work, build your technical skills, and help you explore a future career in the Public Works industry. Primary Function Under general supervision, the intern performs assignments of limited scope that use standard engineering techniques, procedures, and tools. Tasks may include a sequence of related design or drafting activities completed with guidance from experienced team members. The role involves learning to use common engineering and design software, applying basic calculations, and supporting project tasks as skills develop. Some assignments may introduce new or unfamiliar challenges, providing opportunities to learn beyond entry‑level coursework.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and solid work ethic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam.
  • No prior work experience required; relevant coursework is helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to or familiarity with AutoCAD or similar engineering software is preferred (training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing basic plan details, drawings, and calculations under the guidance of project engineers.
  • Support the development of technical specifications and project documentation.
  • Draft sections of technical reports or memorandums with direction from the team.
  • Participate in field visits to observe tests, take measurements, and collect field data.
  • Provide general support to project teams, including helping with proposal materials as needed.
