About The Position

As directed, operates various machinery, tools, and equipment to maintain and repair roads, sidewalks, and associated facilities within the Municipality. This includes operating graders, dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, tractors, street sweepers, and sidewalk maintenance vehicles for tasks such as snow plowing, grading, excavation, hauling materials, brush and debris loading, grass cutting, and sweeping. The role also involves installing and maintaining regulatory and warning signs, and temporarily redirecting traffic in emergency situations. Additionally, the employee will perform duties related to the municipal cemetery, including digging graves, lowering caskets, and landscaping. The position also entails performing mechanical maintenance on equipment, including oil changes, tire repairs, painting, wiring, and welding, as well as repairing major breakages and fabricating equipment. Routine maintenance and construction of municipal buildings, such as painting, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and carpentry, are also part of the responsibilities. The employee will provide equipment and supplies to contractors and arrange for the disposal of dead animals. Requirements

  • Must possess a DZ Licence.
  • 3 to 4 years of exposure to relevant equipment operations, such as trade knowledge on heavy equipment, mechanical and civil engineering.
  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Heavy lifting

  • Repairs and welds major breakages in municipal equipment.
  • Fabricates and designs equipment used in the department.
  • Carries out routine maintenance and construction of municipal buildings, including painting, electrical and plumbing work, roofing, and carpentry.
  • Provides equipment and supplies to contractors.
  • Arranges for disposal of dead animals.
