About The Position

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is committed to ensuring that Florida's consumers receive essential services like electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater in a safe, reasonable, and reliable manner. The FPSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in areas such as rate base/economic regulation, competitive market oversight, and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service. The Division of Accounting and Finance is instrumental in determining the rates charged by Florida’s investor-owned electric, natural gas, and water and wastewater utility companies. This involves analyzing filings, expert testimony, developing interrogatories, holding customer meetings, and presenting recommendations to the Commission regarding utility profit margins. This specific role involves direct supervision of public utility analysts in the Cost Recovery Section of the Bureau of Finance, Tax and Cost Recovery. The primary duty is to spend the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing their work.

Requirements

  • Five years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, professional accounting, financial auditing, financial or economic analysis, engineering or administrative work.
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience or a master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute as an alternative for the years of required experience.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959, must have registered with the Selective Service System unless exempt.
