Requirements

Requires HS diploma or GED Equivalent.
Requires working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
Requires current non-restricted Driver’s License.
After hire, must successfully complete required training.
Eligible to obtain a Permit, issued by the State of Kentucky to carry a handgun.
Requires the successful completion of the Firearms Proficiency Test with continuous requalification on a semi-annual basis.
Must be able to deal effectively with patients and family members in a crisis and to deal with abusive people.

Responsibilities

Performs periodic tours of all hospital buildings and grounds. Visually checks for safety and fire hazards.
De-escalate tense, dynamic, and rapidly evolving situations
Ensures individuals entering the facility are properly screened.
Enforces hospital regulations and policies designed to prevent theft and unauthorized access.
Conducts safety checks and tests as required by State and Federal laws for a hospital.
Patrols parking areas periodically, leaving warning notices on automobiles in violation of parking regulations. Checks fire and emergency lanes to insure they are clear at all times.
Supports the Deaconess Health Police Department objectives for creating a safe environment.
Directs visitors and answers questions relative to location of services.
Responds to fire emergency calls, assists police, fire, and emergency management teams
Provides parking lot assistance to staff and guests.
Supports hospital departmental policies, procedures and mission statements.
Attends staff meetings and in-services.
Successfully completes all required hospital training
