About The Position

The Public Safety Transporter maintains and safely operates a shuttle vehicle to provide timely transportation for colleagues who park at an off-campus location and need transportation to and from the hospital. Hartford HealthCare is Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network, and Backus Hospital has been a primary source of healthcare services for Eastern Connecticut since 1893. It is home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and has LIFE STAR helicopter services. The organization aims to deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare to improve community health.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with Passenger Endorsement
Medical Certification Card as required by the Department of Transportation.
One (1) year of relevant experience required.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, effectively communication information.
Demonstrate a positive attitude in support of the organization’s mission, vision and values.
Focused on providing an exceptional experience to our patients, customers, staff, organizations, and internal and external partners.

Experience operating public service or transportation vehicles or buses preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides highly professional, customer service focused assistance to the HHC Community, specifically colleagues that use the hospital transportation service.
Ability to analyze and solve a variety of difficult situations, problem events, emergencies.
Attention to detail and ability to handle tasks independently.
