About The Position

The Public Safety/Security Officer provides a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in safeguarding students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position provides security for equipment and real property in assigned areas. The Public Safety/Security Officer communicates effectively and respectfully with members of the campus community, supervisors, and peers. This position provides information and directions as needed. May be assigned to a specific zone or geographical work area. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance.
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and visual inspection at distances close to the eyes.
  • Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a security related field.
  • Completion of 30 educational hours at an institution of higher education.
  • Certification in CPR.
