The Public Safety Officer provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion even in challenging circumstances and in accordance with policies, procedures, and training. This role inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor. The officer is expected to be alert, observant, and ethical, complying with and enforcing all safety and security rules and regulations, and maintaining their Department uniform and equipment in good repair. Responsibilities include performing routine patrols, identifying vulnerabilities and hazards, conducting contraband searches, assisting patients and visitors, ensuring traffic control, and investigating workplace violence. The officer will respond to service calls, serve as a primary resource for de-escalation, and perform key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies. They will investigate incidents, address and escalate complaints, perform liaison rounding duties, and deliver security awareness education. Additionally, the role involves liaising with law enforcement and coordinating prisoner patient guard duties. Maintaining current training standards in radio communications, verbal de-escalation, hemorrhage control, CPR, clinical restraints, and conducted energy weapon use is essential. The officer will also assist with exterior traffic and crowd control.
