About The Position
The UT Police Department in Houston, TX is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Public Safety Officer to help protect and serve the University. In this vital role, you'll be the first line of defense - screening individuals entering campus facilities, patrolling the grounds, and ensuring a safe, secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. From identifying potential security concerns to leading emergency evacuations, you'll play a key role in maintaining order and upholding the institution’s safety standards. Requirements
- A valid Texas Driver's License is required for this position.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- 1 year of experience in a customer-focused position is required.
Nice To Haves
- IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer One or more levels of certification (Certified Healthcare Security Officer, Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer, or Certified Health Security Supervisor) is preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a customer-focused position is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Patrols university buildings and property on foot to prevent theft, vandalism or fire.
- Responds to calls for service and provides requested services in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Actively screens all persons entering university facilities; challenges persons without appropriate identification and all suspicious persons.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
