Performs operational support for the department’s use of local area network resources, including server administration, Internet access, desktop support, remote access services, telecommunications support and enterprise application support. Provides technical support to customers in-person, over the phone, via email, and via remote support software. Provides PC support and network management for the Police Department. Creates, manages, and deploys operating systems and applications using an image deployment system. Answers "help desk" calls from department users and troubleshoots both hardware and software problems. Prepares and implements system backups to ensure integrity of the system. Subject to call after hours for system and network operations when required, including nights and weekends. Prepares specifications and purchases computer and network related equipment as needed. Provides support for public safety technologies, including but not limited to mobile data terminals, body worn and in-car cameras, reporting software, portable police radios, etc. Works with and supports mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets, etc. Must be able to pass and maintain a State/Local background check for security clearance purposes. Other duties to provide direct or indirect service to the citizens may be assigned. When unusual situations occur and/or the City Manager declares a State of Emergency, all City employees may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery. Must successfully complete IS100 and IS700 National Incident Management (NIMS) training within 90 days of employment. May also be required to complete higher levels of NIMS training as determined appropriate for the position.
