Under the direct supervision of a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor, this role involves using radio, computer terminal, or telephone to receive and record emergency and non-emergency information, complaints, messages, and requests for service, assistance, or coverage. The dispatcher will transmit reports and messages to mobile units, persons, or departments, and dispatch equipment and personnel to the required location. Functions include acting as a call-taker and/or radio dispatch operator for fire, police, or emergency medical services as assigned. This position may also act as a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor. Work is required during evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends as assigned. The role also involves actively participating as a Communications Training Officer (CTO) for probationary new hires, completing Daily Observation Reports (DORs), and providing training and instruction to Public Safety Dispatcher I (PSD1) personnel on new policies, procedures, and applications. The individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all related applications and receive instruction to familiarize themselves with the duties and responsibilities of a Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor. Additionally, the role requires utilizing programs for emergency verification, such as Blue Light Cameras and Traffic Cameras, and monitoring the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) and Zello for requests for information or assistance.
