The Public Safety Administrative Manager provides executive-level leadership over the Administrative Services Division, overseeing key units such as Transparency & Compliance, Professional Standards, and Public Safety Information Technology. They direct and supervise division management staff, coordinate daily operations, and ensure policies are current, legally compliant, and aligned with legislative and city council mandates. The role includes leading accreditation readiness, managing public records and transparency obligations, and ensuring compliance with critical-incident reporting, auditing requirements, and external oversight expectations. Additionally, they oversee major technology initiatives, ensuring cybersecurity and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance, while providing support and accountability for specialized units such as Force Investigations, Inspections and Standards, and Policy. They maintain operational oversight of roughly 40 personnel and serve as a key liaison to executive leadership and oversight bodies to ensure organizational alignment and risk mitigation. They demonstrate exceptional judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while fostering accountability, transparency, and organizational integrity. Under limited direction, the Public Safety Administrative Manager performs difficult administrative duties in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of a large division and/or major functional unit while meeting the goals and objectives of the Department; assists in designing and implementing procedures, methods, and programs. This is a civilian management-level classification populated with multiple incumbents. The Public Safety Administrative Manager performs duties that are administrative or managerial in nature, with substantial authority for managing staff and activities of a specialized nature. Incumbents have extensive contact with sworn personnel, department staff, other City employees, various public/private organizations, and the general public. This classification is responsible for developing, proposing, and implementing policies, procedures, goals, and objectives within their scope of responsibility. This classification is distinguished from the next lower classification of Administrative Officer in that the latter may handle one or more major functions of centralized administrative services, while the former is responsible for directing the activities for a large division and/or major functional unit. Limited direction is provided by higher-level management. Responsibilities include broad supervisory authority over a diverse group of supervisory, professional, technical, and support positions whose incumbents perform specialized public safety service-related activities.
