Our team of diverse and complementary talents work together in studios, that can draw from relevant expertise and points of view from across the whole practice to analyze and solve the specific design challenges they are working on. The Opportunity: The Public Relations Strategist will lead media relations and thought leadership initiatives for the West Coast studios, reporting directly to the Director of Communications and working under the leadership of the External Communications Manager. This role is responsible for elevating the firms visibility through strategic campaigns, industry engagement, and strong media relationships. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who can collaborate with internal teams, develop campaigns on project work, build lasting connections with local media, and represent the firm at key industry and client events.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in PR, preferably in architecture, design, or professional services.
  • Proven success in media relations and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

  • Established relationships with West Coast media outlets and industry organizations across design, architecture, and real estate.
  • Experience supporting industry conferences and award programs.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative approach to storytelling and brand positioning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute media relations strategies to secure coverage in regional and top-tier publications.
  • Drive thought leadership campaigns that position the firm as an industry innovator across the sector(s).
  • Meet regularly with studio leaders in the respective region to ensure support of industry events, social media, and external engagement.
  • Partner with the marketing team to support conferences, speaking engagements, and award submissions.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with local media contacts and industry influencers.
  • Attend and represent the firm at industry events to strengthen visibility and networking opportunities.
  • Monitor PR performance metrics and provide regular reporting to leadership.
