About The Position
Claxton Logistics is hiring a Public Relations Specialist to coordinate media relations and strategic communication for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The position is full-time and performed entirely onsite in Bethesda, Maryland. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 0800–1630, with occasional support outside normal duty hours during contingencies or exercises. Employment is contingent on contract award, a favorable background investigation, and verification of education and references. A Public Trust (Tier 2) background check and CAC are required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, project management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in public affairs, project management, or both.
- Current PMP certification, verified on the PMI registry.
- Strong writing and briefing skills.
- Public Trust (Tier 2) background check and CAC required.
Nice To Haves
- Healthcare or military public affairs experience.
- Familiarity with DHA/MHS.
- Crisis communication experience.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate media relations and strategic communication for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
- Draft press releases, talking points, and responses to media queries for approval by the Public Affairs Officer.
- Coordinate interviews and visits.
- Report media activity.
- Plan events.
- Help lead crisis communication planning.
