About The Position

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, Curatorial Affairs, the Museum Operations Assistant will work with the Director of Education to assist in the implementation of public programming, special events, outreach and support MOCA’s site management, helping to ensure a safe and visually appealing site for visitors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization
  • Two years of experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic, good sense of humor, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with AV and tech equipment and needs; including microphones, lavaliers, recording equipment, livestreaming, digital projectors, Zoom webinars, and more.
  • Familiarity with image and video editing to edit program recordings into products to share online.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and interacting with varied members of the public, including program facilitators and MOCA exhibiting artists.
  • Able to work in a team environment, manage shifting priorities and problem solver.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Public Programming at MOCA, including film screenings, concerts, lectures, weekend workshops, drop-in art classes, and others.
  • Serve as public face of the museum for these events and welcome guests, and introduce speakers, artists, etc.
  • Serve as liaison to external program facilitators to coordinate their participation, fees, materials needed and set up needs.
  • Communicate supply orders to Department Head for purchase.
  • Assist with set up of all necessary AV and/or tech equipment needs for programs; including microphones, lavaliers, recording equipment, livestreaming, digital projectors, Zoom webinars, film screenings, portable amplifiers, and more.
  • Serve as point of contact for workshop participants to answer questions related to cost, materials, nature of class offerings, age appropriateness, and refund policies.
  • Assist in the maintenance of MOCA registration platforms including Eventbrite, Active, and others.
  • Provide registration lists to front of house prior to all public programs.
  • Occasionally participate in community outreach opportunities.
  • Set up, art making facilitation for families, promoting museum exhibitions, programs and membership, supervision of volunteers, and attendance reporting.
