About The Position

This role involves managing the day-to-day departmental activities for Public Policy Operations, with a strong emphasis on event planning and coordination. The coordinator will be responsible for various aspects of event execution, budget assistance, and ensuring efficient workflow. Communication and organizational skills are paramount, as the role requires handling multiple tasks, managing sensitive information, and representing the organization positively. The position also entails travel for meetings and requires a valid driver's license.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in agriculture, business, logistics, or related field.
  • Five years paid working experience in a coordinating role in a business environment, or 2-3 years work experience at Georgia Farm Bureau required.
  • Proven work record and attendance record.
  • Ability to handle confidential material.
  • Proven ability to relate to and work with various people in a professional manner.
  • Excellent telephone, public relations, and oral/written communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Basic skills with personal computer and experience with basic computer programs.
  • Must have the ability and initiative to carry out duties with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • A high level of organization, time management, and attention to details is required.
  • Must have a valid Georgia Drivers’ License at all times.
  • Must be able to receive other licenses or credentials as required for this job.
  • Must be able to fly to distant locations for meetings on occasional basis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day departmental activities in consultation with the Director and program staff.
  • Plan and coordinate various department functions and meetings, including annual events, member trips, and conferences.
  • Handle event logistics such as transportation, menu preparation, developing event materials, writing letters, securing accommodations, booking flights, vendor billing, parking, and preparing post-event reports.
  • Assist in the development of operating and program budgets and ensure adherence to budget requirements.
  • Develop and schedule staff responsibilities and outside meetings for efficient workflow.
  • Assist with time-sensitive tasks, department reports, member registrations, project management, and member nominations.
  • Handle inter and intra office communications and manage messaging when staff are out.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, county Farm Bureaus, and members.
  • Prepare routine written correspondence as requested by the Director.
  • Attend required meetings and represent the organization positively.
  • Conduct oneself in a way that further the goals of Georgia Farm Bureau.
