The Public Health Specialist provides support and technical assistance to municipalities, the regional planning commission, and other community partners to ensure their plans, projects, policies, and programs improve the health and well-being of all Chittenden County residents. This includes identifying plans and projects that would benefit from health and equity analysis, identifying community needs by collecting and analyzing relevant data, providing recommendations during project and plan development to maximize health and equity impacts, and monitoring and evaluating outcomes over time. The areas assessed for health and equity considerations include transportation, food security, physical activity, brownfield remediation, affordable housing, community and economic development, public safety, hazard mitigation, environmental health, land use, and parks and recreation. The Division of Local Health works to preserve and improve equitable social, economic, and environmental conditions necessary to attain the highest level of health and well-being for all, ensuring healthy Vermonters.
