About The Position

Oversees Chronic Disease Programs- School-based asthma therapy, Diabetes and School Health, and Sickle Cell Outreach in Schools. Manages providers and support staff, program development, daily clinical operations, ensures compliance with grant and donor funding requirements, and maintains 0.2 clinical practice. Oversees daily operations of the chronic disease programs through the delivery of patient care by professional and support staff. Maintains clinical competency as an APP. Plans, implements, and evaluates the administrative, supervisory and direct care activities for assigned program team staff. Manages a team and ensures assessment, planning, provision and evaluation of patient care. Provides leadership for complex programs by communicating goals and strategies, providing direction, priorities, and support.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Nursing or PA studies, required.
Nationally certified and licensed in Ohio as an APRN or Physician Assistant, required.
Three years of previous APP leadership experience in a complex setting, required.
Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy.
Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Nice To Haves

Experience managing diabetes and/or sickle cell disease preferred.
Candidates with comparable clinical experience in areas of PICU or ED will also be considered.
Doctoral Degree in Nursing or PA studies, preferred.
Experience in a magnet certified academic medical center with demonstrated program development and teaching skills, preferred.
Previous clinical experience as an APRN or PA in a pediatric facility, preferred.

Provides leadership for complex programs by communicating goals and strategies, providing direction, priorities, and support.
Collaborates, coordinates, develops, and implements standards to meet departmental goals, reviews departmental policies and procedures, and supports clinical research projects as appropriate.
Contributes to and monitors expense and capital budgets. Ensures that resources are scheduled to provide patient care in a cost-effective manner.
Oversees quality improvement and safety initiatives for area of responsibility, coordinates staff representation on departmental, hospital and community committees. Serves as a representative to such groups when appropriate.
Ensures the orientation of department staff to role functions, policies, procedures, and information systems.
Assists and directs staff in the identification of their own learning needs and helps in meeting those needs, coordinates networking and continuing education opportunities, and collaborates with clinical faculty in planning and coordinating student clinical experiences.
