This is a highly responsible and independent nursing leadership position at the Escambia County Health Department (Escambia CHD), requiring specific high-level leadership competencies, behaviors, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position performs a wide range of duties under the limited supervision of the Health Medical Executive Director. Responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, having the authority for hiring, and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions. Manage, coordinate, supervise, lead, and direct assigned programs and staff in the Clinical and Community Health (CACH) Nursing Division. This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees’ work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensure proper coverage, and complete timesheets. Responsible for all management duties, including budget, programming, contractual, financial, revenue management, activities coding and certification, quality improvement (QI), strategic planning, service quality, and employee and customer satisfaction of the assigned programs. This position leads by example, exemplifying the Values and Work Expectations required by the Escambia CHD. Travel may be required.
