About The Position

This position involves assessing applicant knowledge of procedures for obtaining and tracking special funding, understanding community needs related to public health programs, recognizing diverse social and economic factors influencing these programs, identifying community resources aligned with program goals, basic supervision, medical terminology, statistics, and marketing principles for promoting public health programs. The Human Resources Division may appraise application materials if there's an insufficient number of candidates for a written exam. Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 70% on each examination phase.

Requirements

  • Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited university or college, with an emphasis in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, a health science, a behavioral science, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (e.g., planning/coordination of clinics and public health activities/events; conducting needs assessments; making referrals; interviewing clients/patients; verifying documents for eligibility; conducting outreach, education, or health promotion; conducting home or field visits).
  • OR One (1) year of experience as a Public Health Project Specialist.
  • OR A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, a health science, a behavioral science, or a closely related field.
  • OR Any equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
  • Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License is required.
