About The Position

Under general direction or working independently, administer and coordinate activities of an assigned public health and/or human services program area. This position will coordinate and implement a variety of outreach programs, projects and health fair events as it relates to health equity with the focus on African American, Hispanic, and Asian demographics. Assist with identifying opportunities for improvement and developing solutions using established performance improvement methodologies.

Requirements

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus four (4) years of experience in a field related to public health/human services programming, public health/human services planning, or public health/human services program management.
  • Knowledge of the area of specialization.
  • Knowledge of current principles and practices of planning and program implementation.
  • Knowledge of organization and administration of public health and/or human service programs.
  • Knowledge of program monitoring and policy analysis.
  • Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.
  • Skill in establishing effective and constructive working relationships.

  • Experience conducting outreach, working with diverse and underserved populations.
  • Experience working with programs providing services that focus on health equity and improving health disparities.
  • Excellent communication skills, good working relationships and partner building.
  • Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one (1) year of the required work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans goals, objectives, for assigned programs.
  • Develops policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates programs to determine compliance with Federal, State, Local, and departmental regulations.
  • Develops and conducts orientation and training sessions for program staff.
  • Assists in budget preparation.
  • Promotes assigned programs through relevant media.
  • Investigates client or community complaints.
  • Handles personnel issues
  • Performs other tasks as required.
  • May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others.
