About The Position

The Department of Epidemiology at Emory's Rollins School of Public Health seeks a Public Health Program Associate to coordinate and support a portfolio of aging and caregiving research. The primary assignment is to direct an intergenerational caregiving intervention trial, which addresses mental health, social isolation, and loneliness among caregiving youth and older adults. Depending on skills and effort needs, the position may be split across a second project topics such as elder abuse, family caregivers who are older/grandfamily/kinship caregivers, or neighborhoods and cognitive aging. The role combines project coordination, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and scientific writing, with opportunities for lead or co-authorship.

Requirements

A master's degree in Public Health, a master of science degree in Public Health or Health Education, OR a master's degree in Development Practice OR a master's degree in another field and one year of public health experience.

Nice To Haves

Quantitative and analytic skills sufficient to serve in an analyst capacity, including survey programming and statistical analysis of large cohort study datasets.
Experience with aging, caregiving, or elder abuse research.
Strong scientific writing and the ability to meet authorship thresholds for peer-reviewed publications.
Experience coordinating multi-site or community-partnered research.

Responsibilities

Under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges.
Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research.
Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web-based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues.
May work with clinical study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards.
Assists with data collection and data analysis.
Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings.
May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives.
May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
Develops and tests a tailored intervention for caregiving youth and older caregivers in partnership with two community organizations in Palm Beach County, Florida. Activities include an environmental scan, focus groups, intervention development, recruitment and delivery, evaluation, and dissemination.
Reviews and summarizes the literature to identify research and data gaps, and supports a Delphi process with a panel of elder abuse experts to prioritize those gaps.
Reviews papers and extracts data on family caregivers, and analyzes completed scans to recommend common measures of caregiver identity and health outcomes.
Mixed-methods study to understand which neighborhood factors matter across the life course.
