This classification is to be used in departments/schools at Emory University. Administers Human Resources policies and procedures and related forms for a department or a division. Coordinates compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Completes required forms/documents, reviews for accuracy, and processes. Advises or refers individuals to the appropriate staff for guidance on human resources issues. Advises supervisors/managers and prepares required paperwork to process job reclassifications and to establish and post new positions. Assists in creating/updating departmental position descriptions. Processes required payroll paperwork. May assist in preparing and monitoring departmental budgets. May supervise support staff. Assists in human resources related education/training efforts within the department. Utilizes database management, word processing, spreadsheet and/or other computer applications. Performs related responsibilities as required. Partner closely with assigned Department Administrators and Directors to provide comprehensive HR consultation and support. Collaborate with Central HR Recruitment and Compensation teams regarding staff hiring, salary recommendations, promotions, reclassifications, and merit actions. Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities for faculty and staff, including I-9 completion, PeopleSoft transactions, orientation support, and separation processing. Serve as a resource to department leadership on employee relations matters, including performance management, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns. Administer leave programs, including FMLA and related leave requests, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and university policies. May require managing immigration-related processes for assigned divisions, including J-1 and H-1B visa preparation, documentation, and coordination with university and external stakeholders. Review, calculate, and process payroll adjustments, ensuring timely and accurate transactions. Maintain HR records and data integrity within PeopleSoft and other university systems. Support workforce planning, talent management initiatives, and organizational effectiveness efforts within assigned departments. Participate in and support ongoing RSPH HR projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives. Ensure compliance with university policies, federal regulations, and employment-related laws. This position routinely handles confidential employee information and requires the ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate sound judgment in all interactions.
