About The Position

The Public Health Office Assistant will be responsible for endorsing all health department services for which each patient may be eligible, helping to achieve goals by maintaining a supportive team environment, and properly registering patients in a timely manner to ensure clinic flow. This role involves obtaining and verifying insurance information, checking immunization status, and updating contact information in applicable systems. The assistant will work across multiple systems to verify correct information and help eliminate duplicate records, referring to guidelines, manuals, and CHS policies/SOP to ensure accurate processes are followed. Additionally, the position provides Vital Records services according to policy, procedure, and directives, including reviewing birth and death certificate requests and appropriately printing, documenting, and receipting each certificate issued. Maintaining 100% security of the cash box by adhering to segregation of duties procedures and notifying leadership when problems arise is crucial. The role also requires accurately scanning and indexing all required documents into the electronic system within 48 hours and appropriately scheduling appointments according to CHS Booking Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
  • Experience equivalent to two years of full-time customer service delivery and/or clerical/office work.
  • Qualifying full-time customer service delivery and/or clerical/office support work may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two years.
