About The Position

We are looking for a compassionate, caring, patient Public Health Nurses with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Our Public Health Program experiences a team environment with a shared goal and commitment to provide our clients with the care and diligence they need and deserve. This role requires time management and adaptability. The Public Nurses will use his/her assessment and nursing skills to effectively assist the clients to maintain an optimal level of health; Utilize Assessment, educating, & nursing skills to carry out Public Health Nursing programming.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, must be in good standing and registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
• Ability to work as a team member
• Ability to travel to Outlying communities
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Excellent problem solving & organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal & public relations skills
• Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office
• Must be able to work independently and be self-directed

Nice To Haves

• Previous Public Health and/or Acute Care experience is an asset
• Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset
• Ability to speak/or understand Cree is a definite asset

Responsibilities

• Educating clients in the prenatal and postnatal period’s in-group or individual settings
• Carrying out comprehensive health program in the schools
• Assessing the needs of band members, making necessary referrals and assisting families
• Pre and postnatal care
• Communicable Disease Control & Tuberculosis programming
• Providing direct care by assessing client health needs, planning care, implementing interventions & evaluating outcomes
• Promote healthy lifestyles & health promotion
• Act as a client advocate & a liaison between LLRIB & other agencies
