About The Position

The Public Health Nurse (Senior) promotes community health maintenance and provides specialized support, service, and education to facilitate the public health nursing service. This role involves supervising a group in the delivery of services in an assigned health program, working with clients from diverse backgrounds including multi-cultural, high-risk, disabled, and elderly populations. The position also includes supervising the performance of specialized services within the program as assigned. The Public Health Nurse (Senior) is responsible for the full scope of public health nursing activities at the advanced professional level, encompassing supervision of nursing services for an assigned public health program and performing special assignments that require sophisticated health assessment and evaluation techniques. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time regular, part-time, limited-term, or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years public health and clinical nursing experience that demonstrates possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required in Nursing from a nursing school accredited by the National League for Nursing or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid Registered Nurse license issued by the California State Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Possession of certification in Public Health Nursing.
  • Possession of a current CPR certificate.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license maybe required.
