About The Position

Under the general direction of the Child & Adolescent Health Supervisor, provides nursing services to identified students and families. Serves as subject matter expert in the School Wellness Program at the Calhoun County Public Health Department. Requirements

• Must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Michigan.
• Experience with Tracheostomy and Gastrostomy tubes.
• Oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Time management skills.
• Mental ability to frequently handle simultaneous projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent distractions due to people and/or telephone calls.
• Frequently required to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time, perform repetitive movement, and/or work in confined areas.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies

Responsibilities

• Supports daily needs of identified student(s) provided by the Battle Creek Public School administration team.
• Travel between schools to provide nursing services to the identified students through the school day, as needed.
• Work with school personnel to improve the understanding of chronic health issues.
• Administer medication as necessary.
• Communicate with parents and other health care providers as appropriate.
• Provide input for new or revised policies and procedures.
• Provide information, answer questions, and provide referrals as necessary.
