About The Position

This Public Health Nurse (PHN) 5 provides statewide clinical leadership and oversight for Maternal Child Health and Immunizations, ensuring consistent, evidence-based public health nursing practice across the Section. This position directly supervises the Section’s Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Preparedness PHNs, and Nurse Consultants, providing clinical direction, consultation, and support for specialized programs and services. As a member of the leadership team, the PHN5 coordinates priority clinical initiatives, promotes standardization and quality improvement, and works collaboratively with Public Health Nurses, Senior Leadership, and internal and external partners to advance statewide public health priorities. Requirements

  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
  • A valid Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
  • Basic Life Support for Providers
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
  • Master’s degree in nursing, public health, healthcare services, healthcare administration, or a closely related field
  • Any combination of additional education, certification, and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in: Public Health, Creativity and Innovation, Performance Measurement, Planning and Evaluating
  • Progressively responsible professional nursing experience that includes prior leadership responsibility in health care, public health, health care delivery systems, nursing administration, consultative nursing, and/or a teaching capacity that is relevant to providing either public health services in a public health organization (e.g., tribal, city, county, or state) or population health services in a hospital or primary care setting.
