About The Position

Summit County Public Health is seeking a Public Health Aide to work full-time (35 hours per week), Monday through Friday, in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. The Public Health Aide plays a vital role in supporting WIC program operations, ensuring that participants receive high-quality service and assistance. This position works under the supervision of the Dietitian Supervisor and collaborates with other staff members to provide participation reception and clinical support while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with WIC program policies. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one year of office support or medical assistant-related work experience.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability, and liability insurance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace tools.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's degree in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide participant reception, data collection, and data processing to ensure efficient clinic flow.
  • Maintain and organize files, forms, and other related documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with program policies.
  • Perform basic clinical support services, including obtaining heights, weights, and hemoglobin measurements per Ohio WIC Policy & Procedure Manual.
  • Screen and process participant applications for eligibility based on income, residency, category, physical presence, and identity.
  • Assist participants with completion of forms if needed.
  • Issue WIC benefits, schedule appointments, and assist participants in completing necessary forms.
  • Explain the WIC program, rights, responsibilities, and WIC Nutrition Card use during certification and recertification appointments.
  • Function as a part of the breastfeeding support team.
  • Utilize tele-interpreter services to assist non-English-speaking participants effectively.
  • Prepare participant charts, certification packets, and forms; ensure timely filing and chart maintenance.
  • Monitor voicemail and electronic faxes, responding or forwarding as necessary.
  • Assist with orientation and training of dietetic students and staff.
  • Participate in program meetings, trainings, and community engagement activities as assigned.
