About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in Public Health. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. Screening of applicants will occur when positions become available. Not all applicants in the pool will be contacted or selected to teach. The Department of Health Professions at MSU Denver aims to prepare diverse students for successful careers in healthcare management, public health, and related fields, as well as aging population management. The department offers quality, culturally sensitive education that fosters lifelong learning. It houses award-winning faculty with extensive experience, community engagement, and a student-centered approach. Programs include a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management, a Bachelor of Science in Aging Services Leadership, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health, and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), along with various certificates and minors. The department utilizes a multi-disciplinary teaching approach to meet diverse student and community needs. This position involves teaching public health courses, providing student consultation, and adhering to university policies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree, plus four years of relevant work experience; or dissertation complete, defense pending; or doctorate degree; or professional degree.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 3 or more credit hours in areas such as Principles of Public Health, Global Health Systems, Health Behavior Theory, Introduction to Epidemiology, Community Health Assessment, Environmental Issues in Public Health, Health Policy, Health Program Planning, Implementing, and Evaluation, Fundamentals of Community Health Worker, and Advanced Community Health Worker. Other course content areas may be developed.
  • Be available for consultation with students.
  • Deliver course content to students in assigned classes, either in person or online.
  • Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grade student work and provide timely, robust feedback.
  • Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed and appropriate.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department coordination policies.
  • Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
  • Be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
