About The Position

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity in the Houston office for a Public Finance Paralegal. Support attorneys on public finance and municipal securities transactions, from initial structuring through closing and post-closing. The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7+ years of paralegal experience, preferably supporting public finance, municipal finance, securities, or corporate transactions.
  • Experience supporting complex transactions, including legal documentation, due diligence, and closings.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and prioritize competing demands.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Experience with public finance, municipal securities, securities laws, or tax-exempt financing.
  • Experience with legal research, transaction management, document management, electronic filing, or closing platforms.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or financial services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support public finance and municipal securities transactions from structuring through closing and post-closing.
  • Coordinate transaction timelines, due diligence, document collection, checklists, and closing requirements.
  • Prepare, organize, and proofread transaction documents, including offering and disclosure documents, financing agreements, resolutions, certificates, and closing materials.
  • Conduct legal and factual research and assist with due diligence.
  • Coordinate signatures, deliverables, closing sets, and post-closing documentation.
  • Maintain accurate matter files, transaction records, databases, and document repositories.
  • Prepare working group lists, signature packets, and other transaction materials.
  • Manage multiple matters and deadlines, communicating proactively with attorneys and other stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency across public finance matters.
