This role serves as the Agency’s main point of contact to the Public Design Commission (PDC), ensuring the successful approval of over 300 annual designs and facilitating collaborative design policy and special projects with the commission. The position requires maintaining high-level relationships with staff and commissioners for efficient communication during the review cycle. It involves managing monthly design submissions from various Parks’ units, public/private partners, and sister agencies, requiring detailed coordination with in-house project managers and design consultants to meet scheduled milestones and ensure accuracy and timeliness of submissions. The role also entails coordinating responses during the review cycle to ensure accuracy, alignment with the Agency’s standard tone, and approval, while maintaining internal records of correspondence, interagency status memos, and approval certificates, and managing the project database. The position requires representing the agency in person at monthly PDC meetings and guiding and preparing design teams to present proposed designs and respond to questions at public hearings and committee meetings. Additionally, the role involves nominating agency projects for PDC’s Annual Awards for Excellence in Design, supporting Design Administration staff with design review coordination and facilitating In-House and Commissioner reviews, and coaching presenters for design reviews. Administrative duties related to the shared Design Resources folder are also part of the role to promote design quality and consistency for in-house projects.
