About The Position

This role serves as the Agency’s main point of contact to the Public Design Commission (PDC), responsible for ensuring the successful approval of over 300 annual designs and facilitating collaborative design policy and special projects with the commission. The position requires maintaining high-level relationships with staff and commissioners, managing monthly design submissions from various partners, and coordinating responses during the review cycle. The coordinator will represent the agency at PDC meetings, guide design teams, and support administrative duties related to design resources to promote design quality and consistency.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.
  • All candidates must have at least one year of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Agency’s main point of contact to the Public Design Commission (PDC).
  • Ensure the successful approval of 300+ annual designs.
  • Facilitate collaborative design policy and special projects with the commission.
  • Maintain high-level relationships with staff and commissioners.
  • Manage monthly design submissions for all Parks’ units, public/private partners and sister agencies.
  • Coordinate with in-house project managers and design consultants to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Coordinate responses during the review cycle to ensure accuracy and approval.
  • Keep internal records of all correspondence, interagency status memos and approval certificates.
  • Manage project database.
  • Represent the agency in person at every monthly PDC meeting.
  • Guide and prepare all design teams to convey proposed designs and provide appropriate responses at public hearings and committee meetings.
  • Nominate agency projects and coordinate materials for awarded projects for PDC’s Annual Awards for Excellence in Design.
  • Support Design Administration staff including all design review coordination and facilitating In-House and Commissioner reviews.
  • Coach and provide sessions to prepare presenters ahead of design reviews.
  • Support administrative duties related to the shared Design Resources folder to promote a high level of design quality and consistency for in-house projects.
