Public Cloud Solutions Architect

Kyndryl
•$143,640 - $327,600

About The Position

Kyndryl is hiring a hands-on, client-facing architect for its Global Modernization Center of Excellence. The role turns enterprise application modernization and agentic AI opportunities into clear architectures, roadmaps, working demos, pilots, and MVPs, then guides delivery through implementation and measurable business outcomes. The architect advises senior client stakeholders, works across sales, consulting, legal, delivery, engineering, and specialist teams, and contributes to engagements from discovery and solution definition through proposals and delivery. The position requires deep expertise in at least one of five specialization areas: applications on public cloud, edge and software-defined networks, mainframe modernization, cloud platform engineering, or private cloud. The work includes designing cloud-native and AI-native architectures, building production-grade agentic AI solutions, and producing estimates and SOWs. Global travel of at least 25% is expected. The role is U.S.-based for compensation purposes; the posting does not specify a particular work location or workplace arrangement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a comparable discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in solution architecture, software engineering, or technical consulting focused on application architecture and modernization.
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the five specialization areas: apps on public cloud, edge and software-defined networks, mainframe modernization, cloud platform engineering, or private cloud.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience delivering production-grade agentic AI applications.
  • Advanced expertise with an open-source agentic framework such as LangChain/LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent.
  • Deep proficiency in Python.
  • Experience integrating AI agents with enterprise systems, including CRMs, ERPs, APIs, and data lakes.
  • Experience with vector databases, embedding pipelines, and practical RAG architectures.
  • Strong client-facing advisory, presales, live-demo, and technical storytelling skills for engineering and executive audiences.
  • Working knowledge of responsible AI, data privacy requirements, and enterprise security standards, applied across pursuit and delivery.
  • For the public-cloud specialization: ability to design and implement cloud-native and AI-native applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • For the edge and software-defined networks specialization: expertise in SDN, SD-WAN, SASE, zero-trust, and automation patterns; expertise with Palo Alto, Zscaler, Illumio, or Guardicore; and strong DevNetOps and DevSecOps skills.
  • For the mainframe modernization specialization: ability to design modernization approaches for IBM Z and z/OS workloads, including migration, integration, API enablement, and adoption of modern application platforms.
  • For the cloud platform engineering specialization: ability to design internal developer platforms and standardized golden paths that accelerate secure application delivery.
  • For the private-cloud specialization: ability to design application and workload modernization for private-cloud and data-center environments using containers, Kubernetes, APIs, automation, and cloud-native operating models.
  • A growth mindset, commitment to personal development, customer-success focus, and ability to work openly, collaboratively, and inclusively.
