About The Position

We are seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to design, secure, and optimize cloud solutions, with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including legacy-to-cloud migrations. The role provides technical leadership to development and operations teams and works with stakeholders, business product owners, and DevOps teams to translate requirements into architectural designs and technical roadmaps. The architect will help ensure solutions are secure, compliant, reliable, scalable, performant, and cost-effective.

The position is onsite and limited to candidates local to Utah. Candidates are asked to send their resume to [email protected].

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms and services, with demonstrated GCP expertise or experience with another major public cloud provider.
• Knowledge of scalable, distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, including VPC and hybrid connectivity, security protocols, and IAM.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes/GKE.
• Experience with AI-assisted developer tools and workflows for infrastructure provisioning, code maintenance, and automated testing.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• Experience working in a cloud environment for a government, higher education, or other public-sector entity.
• 7+ years of experience in IT, including 3+ years in cloud architecture, DevOps, or a similar technical leadership role, or equivalent related experience as described in the posting.
• Local to Utah; onsite work is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent related experience is accepted, with 1 year of higher education substituting for 1 year of experience.
• Google Professional Cloud Architect, Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect certification.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD workflows, such as GitHub Actions.
• Database administration and migration experience with PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, or BigQuery.
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, or ISO/IEC 27001.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud solutions that meet business and technical requirements, primarily using GCP, with AWS and Azure also relevant.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, business product owners, and DevOps teams to gather requirements and translate them into architectural designs and technical roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on cloud best practices, application hosting, and distributed architecture.
• Create and maintain architectural documentation, including diagrams, integration processes, and specifications.
• Ensure solutions are secure, compliant, and optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Architect and maintain cloud database systems, BigQuery data pipelines, and public and private APIs to support application integration and legacy-to-cloud migrations.
• Evaluate and recommend cloud technologies, tools, and services, including containers, Kubernetes/GKE, and BI analytics.
• Review cloud environments regularly to identify improvements and cost-optimization opportunities.
• Support disaster recovery planning and backup strategies and help ensure high availability of critical systems.
• Stay current on emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to inform architectural strategy.
