About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a key member responsible for supporting public consultation programs and emergency response initiatives. The incumbent will engage with stakeholders, travel extensively to project areas, and accurately document field data. Key responsibilities include planning and executing consultations, providing emergency response information, managing data, and collaborating with internal teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, along with a high level of independence.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 education; a diploma is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a minimum of three years of reportable driving history in Canada, maintaining a driver’s abstract with minimal demerit points or traffic violations.
  • 0-2 years of previous experience in public consultation or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to walk short distances on rough terrain.
  • Strong independence, initiative, and self-motivation with a high attention to detail for data entry accuracy.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to build rapport and relationships.
  • Strong communication and conflict management skills, adaptable to various communication styles.
  • Understanding of the Emergency Response Planning industry and the services provided by the company.

Nice To Haves

  • A university degree or college diploma in emergency management with a focus on stakeholder engagement is preferred.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.
  • H2S Alive certification, Incident Command System (ICS) training (100/200 level), WHMIS, TDG, CSO certifications, and Energy Sector Driver Improvement/Mentally Active Driving Program are assets.
  • Flexibility to travel long distances to both remote and populated project areas, often requiring weekend work (75% of the role is field-based).
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour days in the field and navigate using paper or electronic maps.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting consultations and ground truthing activities in project areas, accurately documenting roads and surface developments using GPS technology.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to provide emergency response information, serving as a key contact for questions and concerns, and disseminating critical details about evacuation routes and emergency plans. The role also includes gathering feedback from stakeholders and fostering community preparedness.
  • Updating surface development data in the Stakeholder Information Management System (SIMS), addressing inquiries with the ERP Services team, and maintaining comprehensive records of consultations.
  • Working with various teams (ERP Services, GIS, Training, and Administration) to facilitate public consultation initiatives, organizing map information, and assisting with emergency response exercises.
  • Assembling field materials such as letters, pamphlets, and maps for consultation activities.
  • Conducting research to confirm and verify surface development information.
