About The Position

Turner Industries has an opening for a Public Affairs Advisor to join our team in the Pasadena, TX area. Our ideal team member will have excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills, but also the ability to foster positive relationships with both individuals and organizations. You will be one of Turner's ambassadors to our community and clients. This is an exempt role that reports to the Director of Public Affairs & Community Outreach. The position performs a variety of routine duties within established policies.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in government relations, social performance or communications related role work; local/community relations work preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or in any related field is required
  • Up to 30% travel
  • Knowledge of local community/region and community related issues
  • Extremely strong writing skills and ability to communicate and connect effectively
  • Strong social media platform skills
  • Ability to see and anticipate issues
  • Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Co-Create Developing a strategy to build and maintain programs and activities that will have a positive impact on the community
  • Build and maintain relationships with members of the community
  • Be an ambassador for the organization
  • Act as a mentor to other community relations staff to assist their professional development and ensure they are aligned with strategic initiatives
  • Assist in Developing Strategic Community and United Way Goals for Turner across our regions
  • Co-create the asset strategy for community alignment on business planning and execution including identifying internal and external channels for sharing
  • Employee activation lead (volunteerism, outreach, ambassadors)
  • Co-create the Planning the United Way Yearly Campaign
  • Maintain the Turner narrative for internal/external audiences
  • Assist in running the United Way Campaign making presentations, and other day-to-day task to ensure a successful campaign
  • Work with the Marketing Team to provide community updates for various communications that promote the company, as well as individuals or groups within the company
  • Attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with community members
  • Build cross-functional relationships within the company and promote the Turner Brand
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
