Amherst College invites applications for a Pub Staff/Bartender (Casual Position). This is a part-time, academic-year (42 weeks) position with an expected salary range of $20.00-23.00 per hour. The Pub Staff/Bartender is committed to delivering exceptional customer service while creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for Amherst College students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Pub Manager, this position supports pub operations, front-of-house hospitality, and food and beverage service during the academic year. Responsibilities include food and beverage preparation, counter service, inventory management, event support, and light administrative duties as assigned. The successful candidate ensures compliance with state alcohol laws and safe food handling practices, including proper labeling, dating, and product rotation, while maintaining a clean, inviting space for community gatherings. This role also models respectful, inclusive behavior and collaborates with campus partners to support programs that reflect Amherst College's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Dining Services provides essential services central to student life, and this position may be required to report to work even when the College is closed. All Dining Services employees are responsible for understanding and implementing established food safety procedures and allergen prevention protocols, and must actively support and respond appropriately to individuals with food allergies to ensure a safe dining experience for all community members. Failure to adhere to required food safety and allergen control practices may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
