About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing platelet products that meet the safety, purity, and potency requirements of the FDA and AABB. In addition, the position is responsible for sampling and testing QC samples. Founded in 1958, Community Blood Center (CBC) has served Kansas and Missouri for more than 65 years, delivering more than 150,000 lifesaving blood products annually to 70+ hospitals, EMS and healthcare partners. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or higher required
  • Working knowledge of AABB, FDA, and OSHA regulations
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong attention to detail in all work processes.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds a customer service level that ensures every attempt is made to meet the customer's needs.
  • Perform as a member of the Product Control and Labeling team.
  • Must be able to confidently communicate and interpret immediate information in English to all members of the public and CBC staff.
  • Receive and perform data entry and component configuration as needed.
  • Perform all activities related to the release, quarantine or discard for all product types:
  • Visual inspection of blood products.
  • Label all acceptable product types, as applicable.
  • Segregate all unacceptable products by applicable storage locations.
  • Appropriately discard unacceptable products.
  • Perform weekly, monthly and annual inventory of all product types.
  • Perform label stress testing.
  • maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Independently perform self-review of tasks completed and critique appropriately.
  • Perform required equipment maintenance and quality control on equipment as applicable.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect products, troubleshoot and perform corrections, if applicable.
  • Quarantine when required and submit Non-Conformance notifications as applicable.
  • Respond to environmental and storage alarms and perform corrective actions when necessary.

  • General lab cleaning with appropriate disposal
  • Assist with supply receipt and inventory
  • Push/pull a wheeled cart up to 100 lbs.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of printers as scheduled
  • Filing documentation for the department as required
  • Makes recommendations to improve organizational processes
  • Any related duties as assigned.
