  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in powertrain/engine or exhaust design, development, or testing.
  • Knowledge of Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA), including DFMEA, P-Diagram, Quality History, Boundary Diagram, Interface Analysis, and Functional Analysis.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving skills, including experience with the three-legged five-why methodology.
  • Experience with reliability methods.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Work with technical leads on CPAs across engine and exhaust systems, including FEAD, lubrication, cylinder heads, blocks, pistons, valvetrain, timing, engine cooling, and exhaust.
  • Use the three-legged five-why method to identify specific, detection, and systemic root causes of design verification and field failures.
  • Support engine and exhaust teams in migrating DFMEAs to a model-based systems engineering platform.
  • Verify that program requirements apply to the target program.
  • Use the enhanced Reliability Check List to assess whether program design verification plans meet reliability targets.
  • Review designs, requirements, and test plans to identify gaps.
  • Work with technical specialists to update DFMEAs, test methods, and design rules using Robustness Checklists (RCLs).
  • Work with Program Quality and functional quality teams to set quality and reliability targets for future programs.
