About The Position

The Part-Time Associate Degree Nursing Faculty member provides instruction and supervision of nursing students in clinical settings and/or the nursing skills and simulation laboratory. Classroom instruction may also be assigned based on the faculty member’s education, credentials, professional nursing experience, and areas of clinical expertise. Requirements

Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas.
Minimum of three years of varied professional nursing experience as a Registered Nurse.
Demonstrated current clinical competence and nursing skills.
Demonstrated commitment to maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safe nursing practice in assigned areas of teaching responsibility.
Demonstrated experience providing education or instruction to students, healthcare staff, patients, and/or families.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing
Experience teaching clinical nursing courses and/or precepting nursing students in a clinical setting
Experience teaching in a nursing simulation laboratory or simulated clinical environment
Experience teaching in a classroom environment

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Department Chair and program faculty to support achievement of course and program goals.
In team-taught courses, consult with the course instructor prior to the start of the semester to review and clarify course expectations and assignments.
Select appropriate patient assignments for students based on course and clinical learning objectives.
Apply effective principles of teaching, learning, and evaluation in the clinical, laboratory, and/or classroom setting.
Collaborate with faculty in evaluating student achievement of course and program learning outcomes.
Work cooperatively with clinical site staff to provide safe, effective, and meaningful student learning experiences.
As assigned, facilitate student learning in the simulation laboratory using high-fidelity simulation equipment and manikins.
Teach, supervise, and evaluate nursing skills and student performance.
Assist with preparation, organization, and maintenance of the nursing skills and simulation laboratory.
Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and accountability, including regular attendance, preparedness, and timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
Complete and maintain required documentation related to the instructional role as directed by the Department Chair and course instructor.
Attend faculty meetings and other program-related meetings as requested.
Maintain professional competence through ongoing learning and professional development.
Perform other duties as assigned.
