About The Position

Monroe Community Mental Health Authority is a community based mental health service organization dedicated to consumers living in Monroe County. We provide individual health services for people with any type of behavioral health concerns such as substance abuse, emotional issues, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission is to enrich lives and promote wellness. We live out that mission by being an inviting resource that offers in-house, referral, and emergency services, as well as support within the community for those in need. Clubhouse staff have generalist roles and share in the responsibilities to assist members with clubhouse functions, employment, housing, evening, weekend, holiday and unit responsibilities in addition to providing basic care and personal assistance to its members. Clubhouse staff work with members to identify, evaluate, and support each member's reintegration into the community.

Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Minimum of one year experience with adults who have been diagnosed as having serious mental illness
  • Ability to work in a complex, detail-oriented, deadline structured, busy organization
  • Frequent lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to hear
  • Frequent standing/walking going up and down stairs due to community outreach basis
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and/or phone
  • The ability to read, analyze and interpret information
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedures
  • Ability to maintain consumer charts/records
  • Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to influence others
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and such other applications if/when required.
  • Ability to be trained and successfully complete other computer training as required.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of current automobile insurance and driving record determined by the Authority’s insurance carrier to be eligible for coverage if required as part of positions duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Clubhouse experience preferred.
  • Course work in behavioral programming helpful

Responsibilities

  • Ensures member engagement with all Clubhouse opportunities including: the ordered day, employment, education, outreach, social activities, wellness initiatives and decision making as defined by Medicaid Provider Guidelines and the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD).
  • Assists members in the development, evaluation, documentation, and achievement of individual recovery goals congruent with the Individual Plan of Service (IPOS). Including but not limited to member status, progress, behavioral change and all other assigned record keeping duties.
  • Fosters a recovery environment with members and promotes an environment for exercising responsible choices, selfgovernance, effective problem solving, and maximum independence.
  • Provide guidance and assistance when necessary to members in food preparation and serving during meal times, in performing personal hygiene skills, and developing daily living skills.
  • When necessary, plan for and/or escort members to medical, dental, community integrative, job related, or other necessary appointments, including the procurement of supportive, legal and habilitative services.
  • Attend all appropriate staff meetings for continued involvement in treatment plans and management issues.
  • Take responsibility for the general safety and wellbeing of the members by assuring adequate supervision, and carrying out any preventative, routine or emergency duties.
  • Organizes, plans, and directs a Clubhouse unit (Food Services; Facility/Maintenance; Clerical-Administrative; Employment-Vocational Training) with a focus on member ownership and quality improvement both for the consumer and the Clubhouse environment.
  • Assist and/or provide transportation to employment activities, ordered day, innings and outings, vocational services and other community outreaches determined by members individualized plan of service.
  • Provide assistance to members enrolled in the Transitional Employment Program. These duties include transportation, training, and absence coverage.
  • Assists the Clubhouse Coordinator in maintaining partnerships /relationships with local employers for the Transitional Employment and Supported Employment models as defined by ICCD Standards.
  • Provides employment support to individual members to ensure their success in Transitional, Supported, and Independent Employment efforts.
  • Represents MCMHA and Crossroads Clubhouse to the community, relatives and other interested persons in such as way that fosters understanding of the mental health needs of members and the goals of MCMHA and the Clubhouse.
  • Coordinates effectively with other Agency staff on behalf of the member and the Clubhouse.
  • Models positive relationships with staff, members, and the larger community.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Maintain current skills and develop new skills through participation in appropriate job related training.
  • Follows oral and written direction completing tasks as assigned by due dates.
  • Maintains working knowledge of software applications used in performance of daily duties.
  • Complies with and maintains competence with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and rules governed under Medicare, Medicaid, the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), Michigan Department of Human Services (MDHS), Joint Commission, and any applicable funding sources.
  • Understands, adheres and maintains competence with all MCMHA and CMHPSM standards, policies, procedures as they appear in MCMHA’s, Management of Information, Finance-Contract Management, Recipient Rights, Performance Improvement, Administration, Human Resources, Treatment Foster Care, Environment and Provision of Care Policies.
  • Complies with and maintains competence with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations as they pertain to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Interacts appropriately with Managers and peers.
  • Performs required duties with an awareness of impact upon the Authority structure as a whole.
  • Works as a Team Player within the entire Authority Structure.
