We are currently recruiting multiple Psychology Technicians to support this initiative. This position is based in Winnipeg with regular travel by car, plane or boat to indigenous communities throughout Manitoba. Travel may involve over-night stays in assigned northern communities or longer days. Employees working with the Jordan’s Principle program who are required to travel to various locations across Manitoba would be eligible for travel incentives. The Psychology Technician works as part of a team to implement and evaluate direct, consultative, or mediated models of service. The Psychology Technician supports a person to develop the skills needed to live a full and meaningful life using a person and family centered approach. This connects to all areas of intervention including assessments, treatment, and implementation of service. The Psychology Technician is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness and the efficiency of interventions to ensure outcomes that are positive and beneficial to the person and family.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Psychology from a recognized university with coursework in Applied Behaviour Analysis
- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities and/or autism
- A valid Manitoba driver’s license and vehicle
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including overnight travel
- Strong computer capabilities with current software applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
- Satisfactory Prior Contact Check
- Completion of a series of Occupational Health checks, including confirmation of immunization or immunity for specific communicable diseases.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of an Indigenous culture and language
- Previous experience working within Indigenous communities / cultures
- Knowledge of the history of services to people with disabilities, current trends, philosophies and practices concerning their care, education and lifestyles
- Proficiency in both official languages (French/English)
