About The Position

The Thacher School is seeking an experienced part-time Psychology teacher for a long-term substitute position. This role is part of the Faculty and is within the Science department. The position is expected to begin in mid-December of 2026 and continue through March 8, 2027. Candidates available in person from January 5, 2027, will also be considered. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in psychology or a related field.
• Successful experience teaching at the high school level.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check before employment can begin.

Nice To Haves

• Candidates who are not available in person until January 5, 2027 will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Teach 2-3 sections of honors psychology.
• Utilize established lesson plans and curriculum, adapting course content as needed for learning continuity.
• Fulfill all classroom teacher responsibilities, including student support through extra help sessions.
• Provide timely feedback and grades.
• Submit midterm grades and trimester grades and comments.
• Potentially take on additional duties in the residential program, depending on candidate experience and interests.

Benefits

• Compensation range is $10,000-15,000.
• Final salary is based on the number of sections and outside duties the candidate takes on and experience relevant to the role and internal equity.
• This is a non-housed position.
