Under the Supervision of the Associate Dean or designee, to teach college parallel psychology courses and other related courses as assigned. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Psychology OR Master's degree which includes 18 GRADUATED level credits in relevant courses such as Psychology, Counseling, Therapy, and Clinical Social Work
  • Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook)
  • Experience with a voice mail system
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google
  • Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies: Online Information Management Systems - e.g. Self Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Experience with Blackboard Ultra or other web-based course - management systems
  • Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Experience with social networking applications

Nice To Haves

  • Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and update curriculum
  • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency (must be able to read, write and speak fluently in both languages)
  • Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course h our of teaching.
  • Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour.
