About The Position

Under the supervision of licensed staff psychologists, the Psychology Resident will provide psychological evaluation, consultation and intervention services. The Psychology Resident is a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team that may include psychiatrists, APPs, psychologists, master’s level therapists, medical assistants, and other disciplines that provides holistic or comprehensive medical and mental health services to patients. The Psychology Resident receives training and supervision designed to prepare them for future practice as a Psychologist.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an accredited program.
  • Receives Certified Psychology Resident license (Utah) or equivalent within 45 days of hire.
  • Completion of APA accredited internship

  • Experience with psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation with relevant clinical populations.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient's medical history, mental health history, and current presentation to understand the patient's needs from treatment.
  • Diagnoses and treats various mental, emotional and behavioral disorders, which may include psychotherapy or psychological testing.
  • Develops a plan of care either individually or with input from the patient, patient family/significant others, physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provides treatment based on patient need and evidenced-based interventions.
  • Refers patients to other services to improve their well-being. These referrals may include community services, treatment programs, support groups, and/or psychiatrists (or other mental health providers).
  • Properly documents pertinent information regarding the patient's plan of care.
  • Consults with the multi-disciplinary team to develop treatment plans, behavior plans and discharge plans.
  • Participates in supervision and didactic trainings per requirements.
