About The Position

Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for a part-time, temporary Psychology Instructor in the Psychology Program within the School of Liberal Arts and Cultures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Teach college-level courses in Psychology, primarily college-level introductory courses. (typically 4-15 credits per semester) Deliver instruction in multiple modalities, including on-campus, blended, synchronous and asynchronous online formats. Demonstrate proficiency using D2L, Microsoft 365, and Zoom in delivery of courses. Participate in the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional materials within the Psychology department. Participate in student assessment. Assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, department, Transfer Pathway in Psychology, and college general education levels. Commitment to providing quality instruction and services to a diverse student population. Maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with colleagues in the department, department support staff, and all college personnel. Schedule may include daytime, evenings, or Saturdays. Currently available courses for Academic Year 2026, offered in a mix of blended hybrid and face to face: PSYC 2240 Lifespan Development PSYC 1110 General Psychology

Requirements

  • Must possess or meet minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State colleges and universities credential field of Psychology #500014
  • Master's degree with a major in psychology or a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in psychology.
  • Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Community College Experience – two or more years of teaching experience in a community or combined community and technical college
  • Autonomous classroom teaching experience with General Psychology and Lifespan Development.
  • Demonstrated teaching or background in any of the following areas: Behavioral Science Statistics, Psychological Disorders, and/or Social Psychology.
  • Demonstrated teaching in multiple modalities, including fully online and blended models.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
  • Evidence of adapting classroom practice and pedagogy to meet the needs of students.
  • Experience with the development of assessment strategies and practices across all levels: classroom, department, and college.
