About The Position

Provides complex behavioral health services for patients through assessment and service planning in support of an array of mental health conditions ranging from adjustment to suicidal risk assessment and intervention. Conducts outreach services, prevention efforts, psychoeducation and training. Involves a high degree of coordination with other medical professionals. Provides direct service independently without clinical supervision. Under administrative direction, provides psychological services to students, including clinical assessment, care coordination, crisis management, group therapy, and after-hours support. This professional role also serves as a consultant to university constituents or family who reach out to the counseling center with concerns for a student. Psychologists engage in supervising and training graduate students and support the oversight of research related to Health, Counseling, and Wellness. Psychologists engage in work that aligns with their expertise to benefit the mental health of the student body.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Evidence of professional licensure in the appropriate field.

  • Evidence of licensure under Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners, or qualification to apply for licensure within 6 months of hire.
  • Training, experience and demonstrated skill in delivering clinical supervision
  • Demonstrated training and experience in research involving human subjects

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical assessment using Center chosen clinical surveys and clinical interview, to align next step safety and treatment pathways in coordination with client interests and resources for care.
  • Provides brief support including consultation, case management, and crisis intervention.
  • Delivers psychoeducational, interpersonal, and process group therapy to students.
  • Provide crisis assessment, safety planning, coordination of care, consultation and postvention when needs are present within counseling day, and in planned coverage windows for evening/weekend on call as assigned.
  • Coordinates with University Health Services and Victim Survivor Services for medical coordination of care within health service providers.
  • Completes professional documentation in Electronic Health Record following center best practices in a timely manner.
  • Participates in all level of training across center, serving as primary training psychologist for APA accredited internship seminars and individual supervision, as well as clinical supervisor for practicum affiliated training program.
  • Serves as clinical record supervisor for associate professional staff.
  • Serves as central research liaison for Health, Counseling, and Wellness teams, supporting the screening of potential research, development of IRB’s, relationship with research partners, and strategy for research across the unit.
  • Provides outreach programming to the campus community.
  • Serves as a liaison to university departments.
  • Provides consultation services to faculty, staff, and families.
  • Participates in agency program evaluation and research.
  • Performs additional professional service based on individual skill and interests consistent with agency need.
  • Engages in professional development activities to maintain licensure/certification.
  • Participates/volunteers in student service and mental health designed activities including Student Move In, Welcome weeks, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Change the World, and Graduation events.
  • Mental health events include prevention months and Out of the Darkness Walk.
  • Adjusts to support coverage across all four locations when needed
