The Psychologist provides psychological services to patients and families, develops and nurtures clinical services, participates in and leads training activities within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) and Hospital; participates in Department and Hospital committees and initiatives. They may contribute actively to program development and QI activities, serve as an educator, role model and mentor, and participate in local, regional and national professional activities. They may engage in clinical research as appropriate for their role. In some settings, the psychologist may have a matrixed reporting relationship to a physician leader outside the Department. The Healthy Minds, Healthy Kids (HMHK) program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a specialized integrated behavioral health service, dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being among children and adolescents within the primary care setting. Embedded within the medical home, HMHK partners closely with primary care providers (PCPs) to identify, assess, and treat psychiatric conditions early, with the goal of improving long-term outcomes and overall quality of life. Using a multidisciplinary and collaborative care model, HMHK provides comprehensive, evidence-based services including psychiatric and psychological assessment, brief psychotherapy interventions, medication management, and family support.
