About The Position

MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a full-time Addiction Medicine Psychiatrist to provide clinical services at its 130-bed acute care hospital in New Castle, Delaware. The hospital serves adolescents, adults, and seniors and offers partial hospitalization, detoxification and substance use treatment, inpatient care, and specialized adult and geriatric programs.

The psychiatrist diagnoses and treats mental illnesses through psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization, and medication. The role includes evaluating patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders; treating patients or directing their treatment; reviewing medical information to assess stability and make recommendations; and documenting care and maintaining confidential records in accordance with facility policies, regulations, and billing procedures.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO).
• Licensed in the state where the facility operates.
• Board certification in psychiatry.
• Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and in accordance with applicable state regulations.

• One or more years of post-graduate practice experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services to patients at the facility.
• Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations and corporate or facility policies and procedures.
• Review patients’ medical information to ensure medical stability and offer medical recommendations.
• Evaluate patients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
• Treat patients or direct their treatment using a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
• Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, and document services and information in a timely manner.
• Maintain confidential documentation and ensure compliance and billing in accordance with policies and procedures.
