About The Position

Munson Healthcare and the Behavioral Health team are seeking a BE/BC physician to join our Partial Hospital Program (PHP) team to serve as the attending provider. This position works in a team-based model of the PHP which is available Monday – Friday during the day. In addition to the psychiatrist, the PHP team includes nursing, therapists, and administrative support. The program serves 8-10 patients per day. The psychiatrist will be a member of the MHC psychiatry department and as such, will participate in the call rotation that covers the hospital and inpatient psychiatric unit. Call is home call covering admissions and cross-coverage. Residents perform CMS required face-to-face evaluations overnight, so it is rare to be called into the hospital. Typical call shifts are 2-4 per month. Munson Healthcare is northern Michigan’s largest healthcare system, caring for half a million lives. In addition to inpatient and consultation services, MMC has an Outpatient clinic with a robust array of outpatient behavioral health services for mental illness and substance use disorder, a Partial Hospital Program, and a walk-in crisis center and psychiatric urgent care with plans to open an adult and separate pediatric Crisis Residential unit in the next 6-8 months.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible physician.
• MI license or eligible for medication licensure in the State of Michigan.
• Must be vaccinated or have lab-confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
• Must receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the attending provider for the Partial Hospital Program (PHP) team.
• Work in a team-based model within the PHP.
• Participate in the call rotation covering the hospital and inpatient psychiatric unit.
• Provide individual care, collaborative care, and other evidence-based practices in psychiatry.
• Be an important member of the behavioral health team.
• Participate as a member of a vibrant team of psychiatric providers.
